This virtuoso has been playing the pipes ever since he was a child and today Daniel holds the most awards in the history of Galician pipers, with over 35 first prizes proving what a gifted musician he is.

Dani

He was selected to take part in the 1st Course for Young Pipers run by the famous Galician bagpipe player Carlos Núñez (Vigo, 2001). In 2003 they took part in the live recreation of the sound-track for the movie "La casa de la Troya" (Alejandro Pérez Lugín- Manuel Noriega, 1924) filmed in different towns around Spain to celebrate the renovation of the Spanish Film Archive. That same year he was named "Town Piper" by his local Council after winning the MacAllan Trophy at the Interceltic Festival in Lorient (Brittany).

He was a founding member of the groups "Roquementroque" and "Venela" and currently plays with "Xaloucos". He also helped set up "Luvas Verdes", without a doubt the quartet with the most prizes to its name in the history of Galician music and who he played with on the album "Fandango Desesperado"(2005), and not forgetting the "Sete Estalos" music workshop which he also played in.

Diego Maceiras Pedreira

Diego Maceiras Pedreira

His first long-standing relationship with the world of music first began at the tender age of four when he joined his local pipe band, "Airiños de Fene", who he still plays with today, going on to win many important prizes, e.g. “Con Música Propia”, Galician Television (1996) and the area competition for pipe bands in Betanzos (1997). He has also travelled extensively both around Galicia and abroad, with appearances at the Interceltic Festival in Lorient (Brittany 1999 and 2001), the Segovia Folk Festival (2001) and at the Expo ‘98 in Lisbon.

He also played with other musicians in the 15 editions of the ‘Pipers Meets’ run by the group itself, reaching a high point in 2001 when he also appeared on their first album "Identidade".

He is currently in his final year of his first level clarinet studies at the Ferrol Professional Music School.

He first started to learn to play the accordion under the great local virtuoso Manuel Cociña at the age of eleven, rounding off his training with other well-known players such as Roberto Grandal, Javier Díaz, not to mention the renowned and highly-prized Oleg Sharov.

He was a founding member of the group "Venela", where he first met Daniel. His musical career continued when he joined the now defunct group "Rumbadeira" whilst at the same time composing and arranging pieces for the folk group "Eiravedra". He also played with the group "Mamá Cabra" which performs music for children, appearing on three of their albums ("Cantos Rodados", "Cantando comigo", y "Tan só con leres un libro"), not to mention the fact that he also published two books and produced a range of material for teaching music to young children.

In the spring of 2006, as a member of the group, he won the Music award for the best children’s song in Galician "Tan só con leres un libro".

It is important to note that he not only plays but also composes music and has written pieces for all of the groups he has performed with as well as writing the jingles for the "Radio Fusión" programme.

Since the summer of 2004 he has been working as a chromatic button accordion and a piano accordion teacher as well as musical language training to better understand how the instrument can be played.

He is currently completing his intermediate course of studies at the Official School of Music in Oviedo (Asturias).
